Abstract:Objective: To investigate whether schizonepetin has any influences on the cardiovascular system, the nervous system and the respiratory system of animals. Method: Mice and rats were given oral medicine with different doses of ST in order to evaluate the effects of ST on sleep and the autonomous movement in rats, on the falling number of mice from the rotating stick. Anesthetized dogs were given oral medicine with different doses of ST in order to evaluate the effects of ST on the frequency and depth of respiration, systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SAP, DAP), heart rate (HR), PR, QRS, QT and T-wave. Result: With the dosage, ST had no obvious effect on the number of sleep and the autonomous movement in rats,on the falling number of mice from the rotating stick. With the dosage, ST had no obvious effect on the frequency and depth of respiration, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, PR,QRS,QT and T-wave. Conclusion: Experimental dosage for mice, 20 times of the clinical adult dosage, is the half dose of LD50 for mice. The study indicates that at this level of dosage ST has no obvious effects on respiratory, cardiovascular and nervous systems.
